Note: This was originally published in February, 2021. Reinfections are no longer thought of as “rare,” but people still seem to think that reinfections were rarer than they were back in 2020 and early 2021. The original title was “COVID-19 reinfections may be more common than you think.” Other than the title and this note, I have changed nothing recently.

The CDC began tracking reinfections in nursing homes in November, and over the first 10 weeks over 13,000 reinfections were reported amongst residents
